14 months

August was spent mainly at home, hanging out near water when we could. Evan has a minor phobia of things that inflate, but we finally got him used to his little blowup paddle pool, in which, as long as he was nakey-nakey, he was a happy boy.

Bathtime, yet another fun opportunity to be nakey (sensing a theme here?):

Evan invented his own version of hide and seek:

13 months

July 2009 was a big month for Evan and the Horne family. Evan and Daddy started out the month in Delaware with family, and we ended the month all together in Japan. (Yes, Evan, and more importantly Mommy and Daddy, survived the loooong flight both there and back). Good friends of ours from Phoenix live on an Air Force Base outside of Tokyo now, and Dave's good high school friend got married up at Lake Nojiri in early August. It was quite the reunion. In the middle of it all we squeezed in a few fun at-home moments. Here are a smattering of pics:

Evan's first time at the beach (in Delaware)...enjoying the sand? Or not.

Daddy filled up the pool on the back patio...Evan was unsure what to think about it

Who knew Kleenex could be so much fun? (Daddy nearly tore his hair out over that one)

Visiting Showa Park with Aunt Kristin

The happiest little sight-seer, and making new friends at the top of Tokyo tower

Our little family at the Meiji Jingu shrine, and at Roppongi Hills

Evan's favorite Japanese food...udon noodles. We were amazed that he could suck down a noodle a foot long without stopping. He became quite the spectacle for some Japanese onlookers as well.

Rain? What's rain, Daddy?

On the path down to the lake, and a family pic with the famous Lake Nojiri

Evan and Genki at Amy and Pas's wedding...a "puppy!" is all the excitement you need when you're one. Well, that, and a lemon at dinner.

And finally, Evan getting his first taste of Aunt Stella cookies...and going back for seconds

12 months...has it really been a year already?

12 months was a banner month - turning the big 0-1, visiting grandparents and cousins back in New York and Delaware (brave Daddy for flying with Evan all by himself)...overall lots of fun was had by all.

Fun birthday at the zoo

Evan not so much enjoying his birthday cupcake, but definitely enjoying opening presents, especially his new wagon

12 month old photo shoot

Playdate with Aunt Brianne and Corinne - so much fun to have another little munchkin running around who's just Evan's size!

Helping Daddy open his Father's Day presents

Getting his sea legs at the boat dock in Rochester with Gramma, Grandpa Charlie, and Granny

Meeting Grampa and Grandma Sharon for breakfast

Playing with cousin Josh in Delaware

11 months

11 months (May 2009):

Happy First Mother's Day, Mommy!

11 month old photo shoot

Fun time in p.j.s

First time at the splash pad at Tempe Town Lake, a little bit unsure of the water but you can't argue with snacks

Happy Memorial Day, and showing Bear how to be patriotic

More fun water time, this time at the zoo (but really an excuse for Mommy to have a photo shoot)

Resurfacing

Call it a New Year's resolution, but I've decided to restart our family blog. At last glance, it appears we had a 9-month old on our hands. This is as good a time as any to quote the old adage "Time flies when you're having fun", as we now have an 18-month old exuberant toddler, and as such it's time to update things around here.

In lieu of detailed posts (since I can't remember anything but the big moments anyway), I've decided to post a few pictures in chronological order to get us all up to speed with the current life and times of the Horne family. So here we go:

A family shot (for Oma, of course), and cousing picture at Brett and JoEllen's wedding in Columbus:
